The stud is a family run enterprise between two sisters and is set on two sites.Debbie Mardle is based on the first site which has been set up in Bookham, Surrey, creating a training yard for our stallions to compete from. Here we have excellent facilities including 20/60 all weather arena, with a fantastic wax coated surface ideal for dressage, also a treadmill and solarium with hot and cold wash down areas. The second site is where Christina Linford is based, which was set up for the development of the breeding, situated in Pulborough, West Sussex. We have about 12 acres of grazing, all well fenced with post and rail and electric fencing, providing good turn out for the broodmares and young stock and also individual turn out for visiting mares, with stabling to bring them in if required. We pride ourselves in producing young horses slowly and sympathetically allowing them to mature well creating a well balanced easily trained competition horse.

Debbie MardleI started riding very early. My parents bought a farm and we started with our first pony when I was about 12 years old and things quickly escalated from there.I was lucky enough to find someone to ride for and was given opportunities to ride many different types of horses and in many different equine sports. I had two rides racing in the Newmarket town plate, jumped in young riders show jumping plus many puissance classes, then moved into the showing world showing at county level with a heavy weight hunter, a coloured cob, large and small riding horses.I got involved with riding stallions completely by chance when I bought a 3 year old thoroughbred colt from Ascot sales. Although eventually having him gelded for the show ring my love for stallions had started. |

I then got a lovely Irish draught stallion by Kildalton Gold. I had great success with him competing in all spheres. Unfortunately I only had a few foals from him before loosing him in a tragic accident. I enjoyed training him for dressage so much, I then bought my first Spanish horse - a stunning Lipizzaner stallion - who I competed in dressage and then sold on to buy my first warmbloods. |

Later I bought Pagasus - a black KWPN colt - from a dealer. He was a wild child that turned out to be a dream horse. I had great success with him in my chosen career of dressage. I got my first chance to go to the Winter National Championships with him.Unfortunately I was so enjoying competing and training him, and was convinced he was still young and I would have him for many more years, that I neglected to consider breeding from him. Luck was not on our side and in 2007, though we fought hard to save him, we lost him on New Year’s Eve.However we did get some frozen semen at Tremlows and I received a real reality check. |

I am hoping to breed a new young dream horse to compete with, as well as enjoying the stallions I already have. So we set up Pagasus Stud, to use the lovely stallions we have. With the huge developments in AI it is now a very safe way to breed from competing performance stallions, with very limited risk to them or to the mares being covered. It has allowed us to now consider using the stallions whilst still competing in dressage. Both Debbie and Christina are qualified AI technicians, and we both look forward to seeing the produce of our stallions not only from our own mares. |

Christina LinfordI have had a huge advantage in my horse career following in my sister's footsteps from a very young age and therefore gaining good knowledge in all areas of equestrianism. Although we share our interests in the dressage and producing young horses I personally enjoy the sport of show jumping. The first horse I jumped in seniors BSJA was my sister's first thoroughbred stallion and I jumped him up to his limit of 1m20 before selling him on.I have worked my way up the classes with each horse I have had and at present I have a Grade B. |
